Sometime in the dark and chilly morning of mid December, people taking their cabs to the airport would’ve been surprised to see an unusual amount of buzz around Bangalore. For those not in the know, it was the 2nd edition of the Ajmera Thump half marathon and 10km run.
This time around, it was held on the NICE road, in beautiful conditions. Nearly 3000 runners landed up in pitch darkness, to test their legs against the tarmac. The youngest of them was just eleven years old while the oldest was a sprightly eighty!
Considering the amount of support shown by the Bangalore Traffic Police for recent sporting events in Bangalore, it seemed only right to give a little back. So, it was fitting that the 5km run / walk event was a non-competitive event meant to support the BTP’s campaign against child abuse.
With the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise supporting the event, it was only natural that participants enjoyed a free run (pun intended) of the corridor. The crisp nip in the air only made them run harder and the whole event took on a carnivalesque air as there was dancing, mass exercise and plenty more.
